The yearly MSX game programming challenge has come to an end. Not with the big last minute rush we hoped for, but nonetheless with eight entries; eight brand new MSX1 games, all for free!
With only 10 contestants left, the choices are getting harder and harder in our Ultimate MSX Game Character Battle Brawl! What started as a massive tournament with no less than 296 contestants is now rapidly progressing towards an exciting finale.
The first month of 2011 has come to an end already - and while we are waiting on the last details of the MSXdev 2010 finale - we might as well have a look at some statistics. With a distance, the newly released DISK tops the charts.
Runit 2.0.1
SMDNearDark has released a new version of Runit, a tool which can be used to start disk images from IDE and SCSI media such as harddisk, ZIP or CompactFlash. A new option has been added in this version, being /Bx, which serves to select the disk to boot from (/B0 = first disk /B1 = second disk).

While FIFA World Cup 2010 is over, sd_snatcher is already getting prepared for the next World Cup by releasing a patch for Konami's Soccer.
MSXdev10 update
Only one day left! No doubt it'll be too soon for some, the tragedy of a deadline, but that's MSX life. Meanwhile:
- NeoPONG 512 1.1 was released, with some bugs fixed.
- QBIQS 1.1 was released with some bugs fixed, and a revised manual.
- The first prize has, by now, grown from a seed into a firm tree.
There are only a few days left before the deadline of the year, and no one can tell whether there will be a traditional last-minute rush of entries like in earlier editions.

The MSX Cartridge Shop features a new version of OPFX, the tool for flashing MegaFlashROM SCC+ cartridges. New in this version:
- Fixed Salamander ROM search routine. There is a bug in the original game that causes to store the wrong subslot when Nemesis 2 is found, so when playing Operation X the graphics were corrupted.
