MSX in Japan, 2003

by MSX Resource Center on 12-10-2003, 00:50

The dream of every MSX user coming true happened to Remco van Nunen: a trip to Japan. A report of his search for MSX in Nihon.

This article tells the story of Danderma, a female blogger from Kuwait and author of the book "The Chronicles of Dathra, a Dowdy Girl from Kuwait". On her blog she writes a lot about books, shopping, travel, and local cuisine, but also about MSX in her Blast from the Past series of posts.

Find out how the life of a Kuwaiti family changed when the Sakhr computer arrived and how MSX inspired Danderma to become a computer engineer. You will find out that MSX was so popular that its games were once played on a TV series. In fact, it was hard to find someone that didn't own an MSX at the time! In a nutshell: a must-read!

MSX Revival

by MSX Resource Center on 21-04-2001, 00:00

Launch of the revival project

ASCII corp hasn't frozen everything yet, Nishi says, and is inviting everyone to give input on the MSX. There are about 70.000 MSX software titles, so ASCII decided to create an official complete MSX emulator. The ASCII MSX emulator is going to be released for free on the internet. It will run on Linux, Windows and Apple.

MSXPLAYer is the name of the official MSX emulator from MSX Association. The first version of this emulator was released in December 2002, other releases followed later. MSXPLAYer is a commercial emulator that, until today, only is available on the Japanese market, bundled with magazines or hardware.
