Question for the MRC crew: The X-BASIC ROM has been declared freeware?. As you are offering it for public download, I should assume 'yes', but the .TXT in the .ZIP file does not clarify me a thing... This is all about discussing if we must disqualify an MSXdev'06 entry or not. Thanks!.

According to the .TXT in the .ZIP file, this is the cracked MSX-BASIC Kun.

So can we assume that X-BASIC cannot be freely distributed?

Maybe it has be declared freeware since. It did end up in the downloads database.

Well,

- The MSX Resource Center is known to be strict on matters concerning distribution and advocating pirated software (see the policies).

- The MSX-BASIC Kun compiler is available for download on the MSX Resource Center

Adding these up tells me that the MSX-BASIC Kun compiler can be distributed freely. Why would it be available for download here if it wasn't?

Although I can't find the evidence by now I'm quite sure we had a good source to allow distribution here. We -might- be wrong on that though. In that case, we'd have to remove X-Basic from the MRC as well. :/

Thanks for reacting. For now I will assume X-BASIC distribution is legal, and so there is no trouble with an MSXdev'06 entry including the KUN compiler in it. Anyway I'll stay tuned for further info about this matter.
