The Contiki-related newspost reminded me... There have only been some rumours so far, but I am one of the people who would love to see a GFX9000 version of Uzix containing a decent GUI and Webbrowser.

What are your feelings on this? Is it possible? Are there too little GFX9000 users to make it interesting? Or do you own a GFX9000 and would you like to see this happen as much as I do??

One thing that needs to be done is to donate a GFX9000 to the developer of Uzix. As stated before, Adriano wants to build in support, but simply doesn´t have the money for it. Sunrise doesn´t want to support developers with cards who can´t pay for those themselves so no go here. (How about rent it for a small fee?)

Maybe owners of the GFX9000 can donate together some bucks to make it possible to obtain one to rent or give to developers around the globe?

Sunrise gave away a lot of hardware to developers in the past. A lot of those developers never made anything, thereby violating their agreement, and those hardwares should be sent back. Then they can be put to good use at proven developers like Adriano.

But to remain on-topic, a Gfx9000 webbrowser would rule Smile
Especially one that can handle regular HTML+CSS in stead of WILD.

It´s true that Sunrise indeed gave hardware to developers and never got anything back. Sad story.

Well Sander that's life.
However, we reduced the price with 1/3 allready to make it more affordable.
I remember well that I gave Paul Rheemeyer of MSX NBNO a considerable discount not so long ago and Snout as well. And promised Team Bomba also one.
The sad story described by Guyver is very true , but that is valid for the former UMAX group (only peter meulendijks doesnot have a GFX),and the given away evaluation boards bY Sunrise Swiss in the past. And that development havenot been done is in my opinion still due to people who believed that the GFX900 was for MSX Turbo-r only.
IF Adriano want to develop for GFX9000 and the Gui , sure we could use his help .
But let he write an email.
We have meanwhile made progress with the development with the SDRAM memorymapper as the first step to Ethernetcard. And sure that would be one of the programs needed

Bernard told me a couple of years ago that some Japanese developer already made a web browser for GFX9000 (I guess it's the one of the few devices in Japan then), but I don't know any details about it.

Tehee, I getting interested in a GFX9000... Indeed this video card is software needed... But, if I'm not wrong, the GFX9000 was developed in 1994. So many years has passsed and not so much software for it. It would be great if some "really interesting" application support it (like a Uzix GUI or FuddeBrowZer).

P.D.: Uzix GUI... there was a project about it, but MSX has not enugh power to handle it. Maybe that with the V9990...

I wrote Gfx9000 programming documentation (available at MSX Banzai!) for the purpose of stimulating Gfx9000 development.
The 'market' is big enough, Gfx9K NOW! ^_^

I'd really like to see more Gfx9k stuff being developed and (more importantly) be released. Marcel Delorme already showed us with the Magic MWM replayer Gfx9k isn't just for the turboR and a decent GUI (sorry for this, but I relly don't see WiOS as a decent GUI at the moment since it's too C-supported and most MSX developers prefer assembly over C any day) and a webbrowser would really complete it all. Other clients like mail, ftp and telnet would do fine in a text environment too, but a browser is quite graphics oriented.

And when TVSP is done, I'll work on Gfx9k supported things. I was planning that for quite some time now to be honest.
