It's incredible, but even on a community so small as ours, people don't respect other's work.

Today I just found my game "Profanation MSX2" is on Emule. And it's not the demo version.

For those that dont know about it, look here. I made this game - from scratch, it's not an adaptation as some think - in Pascal and started selling it on 2006. There's even a demo on the page for people who would like to try it out before buying.

So now, one of the 8 people who bought it is distributing it (and I know 4 of them didnt do it), even if I'm still selling it online - for a very reasonable and low price;

You see, those games sales is what helps to pay for my hosting, so the money I get from my MSX games, keeps them online, the payed ones and the free ones - but it also motivates me to do more.

I didnt even included any sort of copy protection, because I trusted this community, and thought it would respect people who was still contributing to the growth of the scene.

This is the last straw for me. I don't think I will be making anything MSX-related for the time being - I'm tired of all of this. There are very good and nice people on the comunity, but they are being driven apart by others.

I'm sorry to rant like this, but right now I'm very upset about this.

Crying indeed.... Is it possible someone just shared a huge directory which by accident had your game in it?

Anyway... I understand that you're upset... Let's hope it will be removed soon....

One can find things like autoexec.bat in emule, you'd think ppl are stupid enough to share their complete HD ..

no, someone made an "MSX game compilation", they're not sharing a directory or a folder... it's not done by accident unfortunaly. Sad

This is just plain sick. Who would do something like this? SLotman, I understand your decision and respect it, nevertheless it remains to be a total shame that it has come this far. Let us just hope that the rest of the community is polite enough to just buy the game and respect the author. And SLotman, I hope you will remain active in the scene and return to create great games eventually!

You know, pirating Konami ROMs is one thing, very well understandable and who cares? But again, pirating software that is still on sale is just lame. If you are the one doing such things and reading this thread: SHAME ON YOU! Crazy

Thanks for getting the game! I do appreciate the suport!

When using the game on emulator, just insert a DOS2 cartridge on slot A or B - the DSK does have DOS2, it only doesnt have a DOS2 boot sector.

The problem happens because turbo-Rs internal DOS2 ROM only boots them when it founds a DOS2 boot sector, while an external cartridge would boot it just by finding MSXDOS2.SYS and COMMAND2.COM

If you're still having trouble, just tell me, I'll make a dsk with DOS2 boot sector and send it to you Smile

Hey SLotman, keep developing games. Forget this and don't care; the Community doesn't have to suffer lack of your games just because someone shared the game through eMule.

I fully understand your situation: you have devoted time and efforts in order to produce nice games and now someone is ripping you off. But you can see here that no one is supporting such a behaviour and we are all very disappointed regarding this subject. It is a lack of respect, a crime according to the law, but you cannot blame a whole community because of the mischievous acts of an individual.

I hope that you will think about it and reconsider your decission. I will be very sorry if you finally decide to quit MSX development, even if I understand that you are legitimated to assume such a decision.
