Syd Mead, legendary designer of Blade Runner, Tron and Sony Hit Bit MSX has passed away at 86 years, due to a lymphoma. Sad

Apparently yes. Wikipedia says he worked with Sony, and I doubt this commercial would mention its name if he did not design the computer (of course, I mean the product exterior, not hardware).

He did (or provided inspiration/art for) the commercial, did not work on the machines.

Edit:
There are also a few games that have his name, but En Wikipedia fails to mention them.
I know only "Syd Mead's Terraforming" on the PCE, but apparently he provided designs for some arcade games too.
