Hi

Does anybody have YIS604 ROM dumps by any chance?
I'm trying to switch my YIS503IIIR to Japanese machine (i will exchange keyboard with one from Japanese YIS503II and then will change YIS503II BIOS to Russian KYBT1 to make that machine also correspond to its keyboard) and i have tried the YIS805 BIOS but it doesn't work - boots and then freezes in BASIC. I'm wondering if anybody has the YIS604 dump which would be best match for the hardware of YIS503IIIIR

Looks like that. Not sure in the archive what's that big yis604kfn.rom file is about, but probably i can just ignore it and use yis604bios.rom and yis604ext.rom

Thanks a lot!

If we want to emulate that machine in openMSX we need a reliable source, preferably someone with that machine who can verify the ROMs and the memory layout and all other details. Who has one and want to help?

YIS604 has same motherboard as CX7/128 and CX7M/128. I would be surprised if these ROM images are different to the ones from those machines.

Looking at the sha1sums I think the above mentioned YIS604 roms might just a mix and match of collected rom files (which of course still makes the machine boot in MAME).

The 3 yis604 rom files have the following sha1sums:
0081ea0d25bc5cd8d70b60ad8cfdc7307812c0fd yis604bios.rom
0fbd45ef3dd7bb82d4c31f1947884f411f1ca344 yis604ext.rom
6acaf2eeb57f65f7408235d5e07b7563229de799 yis604kfn.rom

Now CX7 and CX7M seem to use the same basic-bios2 rom (together with many other MSX2). Which you can see when looking at the machine xml:
Canon_V-25.xml: 0081ea0d25bc5cd8d70b60ad8cfdc7307812c0fd

But they don't use that msx2sub rom:

The msx2sub rom used by CX7/CX7M are used in these machines:

Yamaha_CX7M-128.xml: b8e30d604d319d511cbfbc61e5d8c38fbb9c5a33

So it could be that the YIS604 came with different ROMs than CX7/CX7M but it does seem unlikely as they shared the same MB. As you did mention before (outside this thread) the YIS503-IIIR does seem to use a different MB though so you might still need to try different ROM combinations (although I personally think most combinations should work fine seeing as how so many MSX2 models share the same ROMs)

Yes, at least to compare with the Roms above.
