Hi
I have managed to build a new board- after lots of problems soldering the Altera FPGA!
I programmed the Altera firmware, then on the service menu I managed to burn the boot menu an also FMPAC Rom bios, but when I try to write the IDE ROM BIOS, it fails and I'm getting a "File read error"
Can somebody point me in the right direction?
I guess something is not properly soldered, but I have no idea which chip is the IDE ROM bios, so I can check
I have checked all the chips on board and can't see anything obvious
Any help will be appreaciated
Thanks

"File read error"

Strange problem. It seems more like a file reading problem.

I had problems with the update of my cartridge. "C2man" didn't detect it.

Try like this.

Prepare all files on floppy disk

1) Boot with "F5" pressed.
2) Start C2Man
3) "key 9" service menu
4) Full Erase "Key 7"
5) Init/Erase all directory entries "key 3"
6) Write boot menu "key 4"
7) Write IDE "key 5"
8) Write FM-PAK "Key 6"
9) ReeBoot

What msx do you use?

Thanks for your input
I am using an Omega hand-build MSX2+
Just tried and I'm still getting he same error: "file read error"
It is as if is trying to read what it wrote and is not the same
Could it be that the bidecmcf.bin file is damaged?

Thanks

Try to rename it to BIDECMFC.BIN

Ok, I replaced the BIDECMFC.BIN file with the one from the RBSC site and this time it was successful
However for some reason it does not detect any SD cards
I'm using the same ones that are working on sunrise multicontroller
Something must be wrong, but don't know what...

Cards partitioned by Sunrise and Nextor BIOSes are different and not interchangeable. You need to use a dedicated card for each device.

Please read the Carnivore2 documentation and follow it to the letter. Also check the card/adapter compatibility reference - maybe your CF-to-SD adapter is not compatible with Carnivore2.

It seems the IDE bios does not work: I was expecting to see somethink like "Disk MSX DOS" after a Scape from menu, but it just loads the default MSX , so if I try a "call fdisk" it just does not recognize it
In the meantime I have tried different SD cards and double-checked the soldering on SDC card socket
I will keep trying...

Boot with "F5" pressed and test command "CALL FDISK"

You have a default configuration with "IDE" in the menu of CARNIVORE2.

USER GUIDE CARNIVORE 2 "C2MAN"

Quote:

Editing or deleting directory entries

To edit the cartridge's directory select the “Browse/edit cartridge's directory” option. This will open the screen with the list of directory entries, 10 per page. The key assignment is similar to the Boot Menu with the exception that you can't start the entry.

An entry can be edited or deleted. Follow the on–screen instructions for editing a directory entry. Please keep in mind that the very first entry called “DefConfig: RAM+IDE+FMPAC+SCC” can't be deleted.

Does the FMPAC BIOS work with "call music" command?

Are you sure that your IDE BIOS is correctly downloaded (and is not a Github's HTML page)?

I tried "call music" and I get an illegal syntax error
Also tried to import some roms into carnivore and most of them fail - and some that work are not working correctly
For example if I run salamander , I can shoot and destroy enemies, but I am completely unharmed and can even go through rock
Is there a thread on using Carnivore?

P.S.
I have spare parts so I'm building a second board once I receive the PCB, so this time the soldering ( hope) will be better!
