Are there any MSX or MSX2 game programmer who has thought the thing about releasing his/her software also as CARTRIDGE?

I don´t mean, that programmer (or anyone who has knowledge and tools to make cartridges) should make lots of cartridge copies of her/his game and then hope, that she/he (ARE there female MSX programmers still out there?? maybe some, I hope soo) can sell them all to get money back.

But if programmer(s) / cartridge maker produce just some cartridges for testing purposes and few for initially presents/selling items, then adverts their product in the internet / msx shows, that

YOU CAN NOW BUY ALL NEW C-A-R-T-R-I-D-G-E GAME FOR YOUR LOVABLE MSX SYSTEM

then I guess there MUST be people who like to buy the cartridge to get THE OLD FEELING BACK AGAIN!!

And when people start requesting that they want buy that cart, then cartridge makers can produce those cartridges by orders.

Someone can say, that it takes long time when amateur makes cartridge, one by one, as you can see, that cartridge maker can have work to do, or have other hobbies too, and family, pets, etc... but who cares?! If the end result is NEW MSX CARTRIDGE GAME IN THE 21ST CENTURY!!!

Some years ago there was ATARI 2600 group/guy called "HOZERVIDEO", and they/he (I don´t remember was there any other than just one guy behind hozer) made new atari 2600 cartridges by orders. Is it so, that MSX people don´t want NEW cartridge games anymore...?

I think that production costs won´t get too high to get game sold.

I remember that Hozervideo sold cartridge games in such prices as $11, some games were lil more expensive because of copyright royalties (hacked versions of old classics) but all games were UNDER $20 !

Tell me what you think about this!

Some programmers, like Karoshi only made ROM releases with full package and instruction book and the sticky to be put in the cartridge. The only thing you need is a EEPROM burner or a FLASH CARTRIDGE, the cheapest alternative to have new cartridges.

As a matter a fact, I do.
Since the start of our design for the gamereader the idea is born.
We have the possibility to do so since we have a cartridge(box)
Your cost estimation is in usd. I would say between 15 and 20 euro ,if a programmer doesnot want anything. But is more near 20 euro because you need to add a manual or package
An absolut must is that the games are not more than the size of 2 disks.Since you had the size of e.g. 1 disk which 720 indicates already a 8 megabit rom.
512K fits into a 4 megabitter. And we have already two titles in mind.

Absolutelly agree... this is a great idea, new releases and all cartridge classic games on a few cartridges, with the new MSX on a chip could be great!

I'll pay wathever they costs ^ ^

New cartridges would be good I guess.. The new one-chip-MSX supports it. And if the one-chip-MSX isnt too expensive maybe I new market could be tapped. The cheap-console one, sold at toys-shops. But maybe then there wouldnt be any producers out there seeing any profits.

I too like the idea of old cartridge classics republished as cartridges, but the copyright thingy is the problem. In the end of the eighties, major companies bought smaller ones, and that propably still continued later... I guess that nowadays it´s hard to say WHO is the latest owner of each old game... except those small one or two man companies, who remained unsold or gone bankcrupt or just retired. It is much easier (and more realistic!) ask from those lil companies that can we republish your old game and pay royalties to you, if you want so!

You know what giants like Konami and Namco and Sega and etc think about republishing THEIR GAMES.... unless THEY are doing it themselves.

Well, as several companies are already re-releasing their products bundled with emulators on Project EGG (and soon on WOOMB) it might only be a matter of time until they decide to re-release software on cartridges as well.
