Loads of MSX-games have been released during the last 10 years, in particular thanks to MSXdev. Although I hardly played a quarter of those, I do know which games are my favorites. I prefer games which are easy to get into but difficult to master/finish. I never really liked (j)RPGs, to be honest.

Two games of the 4th MSX-decade stand above the rest for me: Ghost by Unepic_fran, released in 2017 and Night Knight by Usenet, released in 2019. I have to admit I'm not playing the MSX-version of Ghost though, but its Steam release Mini Ghost (which may be easier as the MSX-version lacks the hospital and the map IIRC). I still have to finish this game, after not playing it for a year because I couldn't get past the first boss. Yesterday I could.

For me it's Ghost as well (i also played (next to Mini Ghost) Ghost 1.0 on the PS4, really nice to things come back there in both graphics and music). Next to that also Prisoner of War from the same creator.

For sure, Ghost is my favorite too !
But how to forget Imanok, Retroworks or Hikaru for their wonderfull productions !
Too difficult to choose for a top 10...

i'm not a great gamer and I'm come back to MSX since a short time but :
Sword of Ianna for me.
For the pixel art and the playability of the hero ala Prince of Persia.
Kind of game I expected on MSX2.

Wow!! there's so many to choose and so many different genres that this is a very hard choice!!! Out of all the ones I myself played, I enjoyed "Los Amores de Brunilda" the best (probably because I like these type of exploration games). But there are many that I have not yet played but seem to be really good (for example Children of the Night, Ghost or Prisoner of War)!

Since this might come down to genre preference, it would be interesting to pick a top 5 or so within each genre (e.g.: platformer, racing, rpg, etc.) (and I know, I know, figuring out which genres to consider and which games fall into each can also be hard, haha)

My vote is also for Brunilda.

It is such a great and beautiful game. Decent story and repeated but enjoyble action phases.

I have done it form start to end 4 times already.

My top five:
1) prisioner o fiar
2) ghost
3) Tina adventure
4) multiverse
5) bitlogic
Brunilda is an excelent game the same that children of te Night, and they could fit in the top five, and dozens of games more...
