Star Force Smooth Scroll Enhanced

Kaizou Kaikai made two patches to enhance Star Force.

The first patch creates the Star Force EX version. It adds options at functions Keys and modifies an enemy bullet to be more visible. You can download it at following link.

Both patches create an unconventionally sized ROM. Normally these ROMs should have a size of 64Kb but it's not the case because emulators ignore that a ROM under 128KB can having a Mapper for the auto-detection. ROMs are also trimmed not to reach 128KB (why?). Patches are not applicable at the same time.

About Star Force EX version, press ESC then a function key to display one of the described menus below.

Press F1 to display the color editing menu for enemy bullets
Press F2 to display the background color editing menu
You can save the settings on tape by pressing F4
You can read the saved settings by pressing F5

Notes:

Use the cursor UP or DOWN key to select the target, and change the color by pressing LEFT or RIGHT.
You can quit the menu with the ESC key
Saving / Reading starts immediately by pressing F4 / F5. So please prepare the tape before pressing these keys and be careful not to press the wrong key

This looks so good. Imagine it was released like this in the 80s and msx2 was out earlier closer date to famicom... but I think famicom still would have won cos of price.
I want more games patched with smooth scroll.

I guess he just used the adjust register (and perhaps the reg 23 for vertical) to make the scrolling, nothing else changed. But I haven't checked.

On a different note, the same author has released the following interesting patch.

A patch for modifying Super Laydock for single player
The player 2 fighter works like the Nemesis option.

About Super Laydock, the author says we have to use the ROM with the SHA1=5ACBA91C0B390C0E41FE407B87CCDB45155ECF47.
I can't find a matching ROM. Is this a mistake?

Ooh...I don't have Super Laydock, so I only shared the YouTube info and didn't actually try it.
The ROM version specification is tricky.
It‘s a pity that it cannot be applied to different versions…

These are some amazing patches! And especially Valis 1 demo scenes? That means that it a major missing element is added to the game. So perhaps I haven't translated the PC88 demos for nothing This is more than I would have expected.

The fact that he got the wrong ROM does not change the resulting ROM because I get the same ROM as before.
I prefer without continuous firing. Is there a way to avoid this?

Another unrelated thing that has always bothered me in Laydock and Super Laydock. We must always indicate the name of the second player even if we are playing alone.

Added a setting that allows aerial objects to be affected by left/right scrolling.
Added a setting to make enemies appear slightly closer to the center (x*7/8+16).
Config menu is now hierarchical.
