Dutch msx composer poke-1,170 released a new album called Selected FMbient works 82-80 on the Sound Unbound record label.

The album features 16 ambient and soundscape compositions, and with 16 tracks and over 1 hour of playtime, this is poke-1,170's longest music release to date. All the tracks were written in Moonblaster 1.4, using the Philips Music Module and FM-PAC, and all channels were recorded and mixed separately.

Now the interesting thing is that apart from a digital release, the album can also be ordered on a real cassette. For those who order the cassette there's an extra bonus in the form of 3 high quality prints, based on the album's artwork. The artwork features compositions based on the design of the Music Module.

The album will be fully available from the 2nd of december, but you can already pre-order the cassette on the bandcamp website, as well as listen to a few tracks for free. Those who order the cassette will also receive a download code, so the tracks can be listened to as MP3 or FLAC files.

thanks Cool I only use moonblaster 1.4. I do record all the channels separately, then put them in Reaper so I can add eq and a bit of reverb to some channels. Luckily someone else mastered the tracks, which is a whole different skill.

I guess that if the tape doesn't work... just type poke -1,170 and try again! Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

I know someone in my building who has this new tapeplayer. Seems to get the job done, also has a built in speaker, built in mike, normal output and it even plays mp3 sticks from a USB player :)
Been thinking about getting one of these, though I must say I also enjoy getting some vintage tape player stuff from either the 70's or 80's. Then again, they do build new ones, you'll at least know that the rubber band and play mechanism will last.

@poke-1,170 just ordered the cassette Big smile love the tunes and the idea. A cassette in 2022 who thought that was still going 10 years ago? Thanks and keep on the sounds and tracks. And to all the composer's out there make it happen. Poke-1,170 did.

Very nice to hear you still use your old hardware for this!

Ah thanks for ordering the tape Smile yeah tapes have made a bit of a comeback in the past couple of years. It's not just because of nostalgia, but also a reaction against consuming music digitally. It's nice to have an actual product you can hold, and also tapes are relatively cheap to produce.

I enjoyed this. It's very unique and interesting that each song's theme is about a different MSX computer.
