Hmmm, so far nobody dares to vote 90% or more. Interesting Wink

Well, I find 70% rather huge already ^^

There are 3830 game entries (game titles) in Generation MSX at the moment..so, regardless of demos, music disks, diskmagazines, challenge entries etc. 10% would mean 383 games already!

These 3830 entries also include demos, music disks 'n stuff! ^^; But it's not quite complete, just a good indication.

And let's not format the disk/cas service from the Dutch MCM, with all the listings 'n stuff. And let's not forget the equally Dutch MK Public Domain. And let's not forget all the BBS promo demos, all the unknown MSX software from Latin America, Russia, the Arabic Emirates, Japan etc. etc.

<5% here...
I have seen quite some stuff through the years... Especially when those collections came out a few years back... All was checked on its integrity/doubles etc and then on the play-factor/does it work from CF/MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD...
A lot of stuff didn't make it to the finals cuz of it not being english and therefore not fit for me...
Also did I see a lot of dutch stuff from the 90s and later.
But knowing how many little tools and programs got coded in Holland alone, it's easy to say that the scenes from other countries had such a bulk as well. I think of Japan, Korea, Spain, Brazil to name a few... I've never seen scene or pre-scene stuff from those countries and I think I never will cuz it is known for being in the native language...
I guess I've seen a little less than 30% of dutch stuff (next to MSX Computer & Club Magazine there were quite some other magazines with loadsa listings... Then there's business software from the 80s... Stuff that was just friggin expensive or friends didn't have it...) and I think that's quite an average...
Knowing that at least Japan was way more active through the years I know my global average goes into freefall way below 5%...

Really, I can hardly believe that anyone went over 10%...

hard to say... we don't know how much there really is, and "seen" is a very relative term.

I voted 20% but it's kind of a wild guess.

In the pc shareware days, I've actually helped on making an MSX collection... gray matter at its best of course (legal issues). We contacted several people though, and most were enthusiastic about our product. Even though I was an MSX user and fan far before that, I've gone through dozens of MSX software titles at that time, hence my daring 20% entry.

Just for the fun of it I opened the first PDF of MC(C)M I got from their site... That'd be ms(x)dos_computer_magazine_22 from may 1988.
I typed every software title and listing (not the little 10 liners) name I could find in reviews, tests and advertisements and I am sure I skipped a few. Out of the 118 found titles I've only seen 17... That's one issue of one MSX Magazine which...

To the guys who voted more that 10%, tell me, how much of the list below have you actually seen? There is so much more than you think. There's been a big line of commercial business software for MSX in every country by their own national publishers and I wonder who will ever have seen any of it Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

This list contains a huge number of Aackosoft titles which were just then released as one collection (30 MSX hits). That will skew the answers, depending whether or not you own that particular set. (I do.)

You've seen 40% of the Dutch software and choose 40% of all software... So you've seen 40% of all Brazillian, Spannish, Korean and Japanese software as well...
I can understand your theory of chosing 40% of the Dutch software, but somehow I doubt the rest Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

Max, I just opened one of the 90 most popular MSX Magazines from Holland... A lot of it was from advertisements which would reappear once in a while. It's a tiny bit of titles named in all of these magazines. Then there's the countless listings which count as well... There once was a magazine in Holland which almost exclusively consisted of listings... Then there's all the 1983-1986 professional Dutch software... And that's just Holland... It's (luckily) not just the Dutch that created software...

Actually, I think it's impossible to even guess how many titles ever appeared on MSX

Looking at the results I think it's very hard to answer this question, because nobody really knows how much software really exists on MSX. I don't think that this poll will produce accurate results. Because everybody judging differently. And do we count all major commercial software or all available programs including basic listings? I voted based on major commercial software and high quality home-brew stuff.
