Recently I have tried to boot MSX-DOS2 on my NMS8255 by shooting the ROM into the megaflashrom and put the rest of the files required onto a FD. On boot the MSX hangs and starts rebooting into an eternal loop of restarts.

I am trying something impossible here?

I have not tested, but it should be possible if you flash the right ROM.
I.e.: OPFX MSXDOS22.ROM /A16 /F

Works! does a reboot once (guess its the /F command doing that) then boots nicely and smoothly into MSXDOS2.

problem solved thanks.

It is not possible to boot MSXDOS2 without the proper cartridge. The MSX2 cannot do that. I use MSXDOS1 but I thought to give MSXDOS2 a try just to see how it works and such. In an emulator it worked flawlessly but in real life it didn' t behave as expected. Now I can test and see if there is any gain in using MSXDOS2.

It should work in any MegaFlashROM model. In old models you need to use OPF and the right ROM.

I can't use opfx.
opf has /16 parameter but /F is missing
I use release 0.78

We are at version 1.31 by now.

That will have the /F option in for sure. Download it at the msxcartridgeshop
