Hello all!

Does anyone have any information about which were the first MSX models (i.e., launched in 1983), preferably with references ? I'm conducting an academic research on the MSX platform and I really need this information. I've already searched for this information on the web, to no avail.

I appreciate a lot if anyone can shine a light on this subject.

Thanks in advance, best,

Some information on MSX history and early days is available in a book by Robert Chapman Wood "The MSX Standard: The New Computers". The book itself is here: http://msx.ebsoft.fr/The_MSX_standard-The_New_Computers.pdf
There is also some info on "MSX prototype" on MSXPro wesite (I think he is also from Brazil) but I do not think it is very accurate. I think after Spectravideo several major Japanese manufacturers released computers almost simultaneously.

This post referencing a recent Ascii article (in Japanese but Google translate is your friend) identifies the Mitsubishi ML8000 as the first MSX available.

cklayman, Maggoo, ericb59, thank you all very much for the information! I've downloaded the book by Chapman Wood and I'll also check the links and the article you provided.
