For your enjoyment, I’ve made two Sorcerian (Sharp X1 version) soundtrack packs which include a beta version of VGMPlay. They will play on any MSX with MSX-DOS2 and a memory mapper:
Sorcerian (X1) soundtrack for MSX PSG
This one needs 256K memory although for most songs 128K will suffice.
Sorcerian (X1 Turbo) soundtrack for MSX PSG + Yamaha SFG
This one needs 512K memory although for most songs 256K will suffice.
The VGM files in these packs are made by vgmrips.net user 2ch-H.
New video: VGMPlay for MSX, YM2413 (MSX-MUSIC / OPLL) support
I’ve added YM2413 support, also known as MSX-MUSIC or OPLL. The song playing is the prelude from the MSX2 version of Final Fantasy, but the YM2413 was also commonly used in the Sega Master System and some arcade machines.

This time the frequencies match the MSX clock frequency, not surprisingly :), so the pitch is perfect.
Sorcerian (X1 Turbo) soundtrack for MSX PSG + Yamaha SFG
This one needs 512K memory although for most songs 256K will suffice.
Oops, pasted the wrong link, the correct file is here.
New video: VGMPlay for MSX, YM3526 OPL support
Now also the playback of YM3526 OPL songs is supported, on the MSX-AUDIO (Music Module) sound cartridge. The music is from the arcade game Dangar - Ufo Robo. I’m close to supporting Y8950 as well but I need to implement sample loading for that to work properly.

Vers Nice grauw
Why not the OPN série?
YM2203 (OPN) YM2608 (OPNA Sans Adpcm) YM2610 (OPNB Sans Adpcm) YM2612 (OPN2) YM3438 (OPN2C) YMF288 (OPN3)
^^)
And the ultimate opl/opn hybride chip YMF297
Probably because these chips do not exist in MSX devices?
igal: What Quibus said . I could try to emulate them on the OPM perhaps (it is similar in architecture), but the OPM does not have the “SSG EG” function so I don’t know how well that would sound. Probably some songs will sound fine, others won’t…
Wanted to test the player on my nms8280 but didn't realize the players needs DOS2.
Didn't have one for my my real system

Sorry, I will eventually add DOS1 support but for now I want to focus on features…
