Dear MSXers, is anyone able to make Star Avenger run on http://webmsx.org/?

This is an ideal continuation of the same question, but focused on OpenMSX. You can download staraven.zip from Steve Wallis' website (WayBack Machine)).

WebMSX seems to have a limited set of machines, but I believe that problem actually lies in the loader code (AUTOEXEC.BAS), rather than in the game binaries. Saying so because a few decades ago I had a tape version (distributed in Italy by a company named Armati), and it worked on my MSX1 (Philips VG8010, a reasonably standard model).

Any hint welcome, thanks in advance guys. Cheers!

The question is more: which emulated machine in WebMSX has the RAM not in a subslot?

Quite simple...
Just wait untill you return to basic, go to the little config icon on the right bottom of the WebMSX logo. Go to the Floppy Drives option and press your right mouse button to make the disk-rom move to slot 2-3 (top red led).
The machine wil reboot and the game will work fine.

Maybe you can try the improved versions available here: http://eggerland.msxblue.com/MSX%20UK/wallisgames.htm

Talking about these Wallis games, looks like Spooks and Ladders wasn't reviewed in ANY magazine... is this correct or did we miss something?

EDIT: oh, the same question seems to apply for Buster Block...

I must admit that I hardly knew these games anyway, before encountering them at Steven's website. As far as I can tell, they weren't very widespread in the Netherlands at least. Not legally nor illegally. But maybe other people have other experiences?

Guys, many thanks for all your hints. Some solved my problem, some stimulating digging further and learning something new. In particular:

- thanks @tfh, I tried your suggestion about changing DiskROM (sub)slot and it worked, great!
- thanks @mars200you, I see that Star Avenger hosted at msxblue.com works easily on WebMSX, to the point that I can simply invoke this link and play the game: https://webmsx.org/?DISKA=http://eggerland.msxblue.com/MSX%20UK/staravenger.zip
- thanks to all of you for stimulating interest to the other Wallis games, I had only seen Star Avenger so far

A little trivia: I (somewhere in some basement) have a copy of Star Avenger published by Armati, which is described as "pirated version" on Generation-MSX database. I believe it's true, but it was purchased at a regular shop of electronic hardware in the 80's, I bet that even the shop owner had been tricked. Even the quality of materials (tape, boxes, labels) looked quite good, so I never had a doubt for decades, until Generation-MSX broke my hea... opened my eyes :o :) .

Cheers!
