MoonBlaster 1.4 driver for MSX-BASIC Updated

The MoonBlaster 1.4 driver for MSX-BASIC by BiFi was updated with the following changes:

  • Added detection for 256K Sample RAM
  • Added _MBKBANK which allows for loading up to 7 additional sample kits
  • Increased the number of extra allocatable banks from 4 to 28
  • Fixed a bug causing drive letters to not be allowed in DOS1

The driver can be downloaded from his home page or MSX Banzai!.

Great improvement, thank you BiFi. Just out of curiosity, apart of NOP's Unknown Reality, are there more demos or games using the 256 KB sample RAM?

Never seen anything. So as far as I know everybody who does have 256K in their module has it only for that demo. And if not, just because they can/could.
It was an expensive "joke" (dutch saying) back in the day, to do that just for NOP's demo (which cost more than average as well).

iirc this one supported 256 kb.

Sampbox (unless there was a sequel I missed) supports main ram. Not sample ram.
When I didn't have enough sampleram yet, I used sampbox to play the unknown reality samples.

Hm, is there any sample Z80 asm on how to use the Y8950 CPU based streaming of ADPCM data? Obviously that is what sampbox is doing to override the sampleram size limit...

The guys of NOP, who made Sampbox/Unknown Reality, are around again. I bet they can give you answers :)
