SofaRun 8.0 has been released

Hi all,

SofaRun 8.0 has been released. Here are the changes compared to previous version:

Support for "jump to" in file and ZIP browsers. Just press a key and SofaRun will jump automatically to the file starting with that letter. [HOME] and [INS] can also be used to jump to start and end of files respectively. As this feature was not "sofa-compliant" by requiring a keyboard, a new "Jump to" menu entry has been added (with the "virtual keyboard"), allowing you to do the same with a joypad.
Improved support of MiSTer. MiSTer MSX is currently not supporting yet the "linear" mappers ROMs. This was a big problem as the other "ESE SCC" mappers that could be used instead were requiring to "forget the last flash rom" everytime, because the MiSTer (and also OCM) "Flash rom" is volatile. The fix here handles correctly that, only the LinearC roms (like Arcomage) can't be launched.
Fix in SofaSet to update the display of RTC time (this has been accidentally frozen in previous release).
[ESC] key now allows again to exit the splash screen directly to MSX-DOS 2.
Corrupted settings files do not cause anymore garbaged display or crash, but are now displayed as "**Invalid**", allowing you to reset them to restore them to e default state.
Simplified code to launch external tools.

Just downloaded, thanks for the update. One question, it's true that now ESC key let you exit on splash screen, but it seems that RET no longer works to enter SR, only SPACE.

Hi Ro, no problem at all: I really appreciate all the work you guys are doing for "shaping" the news posts. It gives a very good visibility to the new creations on a longer term compared to regular thread posts.

This new thread here just gives a bit earlier information so that people can start testing SofaRun 8 this week-end

Ro, if you read this, you can also add to the new features:

Fix an issue with ASCII 16 mapper support for Carnivore 2 (fixes "Hole In One Special (1987)(Hal)" and maybe some other ASCII 16 games).

This change has just been promoted, SofaROM has jumped to version 3.2 but I've not changed the version of SofaRun (still 8.0).

You are welcome. Another minor bug: when you delete a file you are returned inmediatly to the list screen, even if the operation is still in progress. In Sofarun 7, you stay in the confirmation screen Yes / No with the message "Deleting" until the operation finish. I think that this is more correct to avoid accidents

Seems to work the same old way here. If I choose "Delete file or directory" or "Delete all", I still have the confirmation menu and the "Deleting..." message. Maybe the deleting message is too fast (if you delete only a single file) ?

Could you give more details or maybe post a video ?

Sure, here is how it works on SR7 and SR8:
SR7 : it stays with "Deleting" until it finish. It's ok.
SR8 : instantly it comes back to options list with the operation still on going. The actions are blocked, you can't move, until operation finishes. Perhaps in SR7 was more clear.
