Registration opened for MSX Fair Nijmegen 2021

The annual MSX fair in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, is being held on October the 16th. Registration for this fair has now been opened.

Earlier we reported about the Nijmegen Fair being postponed. While the usual moment for this event is in the first quarter of the year, it has been postponed to the last quarter of the same year due to Covid-19. It looks like it is going live after all, hurray! The 2021 edition of this fair is to be held on October 16.

The registration for the MSX Fair Nijmegen 2021 has been opened. Register your booths on the fair's dedicated website.

Already announced booths are:

openMSX Team
Demonstration of the current development version of openMSX and the debugger GUI. Of course questions will be answered and comments and suggestions are most welcome.
Bitwise
Demonstration and sales of MSX games.
Delta Soft
Promotion of our own (Delta Soft) software, like a.o. Snatcher Act 3 and possibly the release of a new puzzle game for MSX2 and up.
HomeComputerMuseum
Promotion of the HomeComputerMuseum and presentation of MSX computers and documentation.
NOP
Insight in the latest developments. Promotion of software products.
SymbOS
SYmbiosis Multitasking Based Operating System (SymbOS) latest developments and preview of SymbOS 3.1.
Retrodeluxe
Will show progress in some new project, setup a machine for people to play. Also offer some hardware for sale.
UP-Soft
Several MSX hardware and software for sale.
MSX Translations
Showing new developments and old releases. Promotion of the MSX Level and Editor contest. Possibly selling some second hand software.
SuperSoniqs
Demonstration and sale of MSX hardware.
Bas & Ditta / Repair-Bas
Buy and sale of MSX software and hardware, repairs, expansions, cables.
MSXinfo.net
Promotion of www.msxinfo.net and www.msx.pics
MSX Arcade Tabletop for visitors to game on
hamlet's
Place to meet and greet. Mi-Chi talks about his game in development.
Marcel Schipper
Demonstration of the Sunrise Video 9000.
Sale of 2nd hand MSX stuff (hardware, software, magazines, books).
Raymond van der Meulen
Demo of the SM-X and maybe Flashjacks.

Please note that the organisation has assumed that there will be no specific regulations on the fair date. If this appears to not be the case, it may be possible that the fair will be canceled after all, and a new attempt will be made to organize one in February or March of 2022.

It's not likely that I will be coming in October unless Germany revokes the PCR test requirement on entering the country. How would I be able to do a test after the fair? Besider, here those tests cost from 80 to 200 Euro depending on the urgency. Not sure how much that would be in NL.

Too many issues, for ME, to travel outside of the UK at the moment, however, we are looking at doing an MSX event at the RCM here in Leicester.

As bad things went for good, I will find the time to visit the fair.

Let's manage our pre-fair evening.
It seems we are not gonna stay at the mercure this time but in a hotel nearby.
We got to know how much of you would like to attend the pre-meeting on 15th october evenning.
I will do a seperate news post as soon as we knew the place to meet.
Is there a bar big enough willing to hist us, who stay at the mercure? Maybe we can meet again at the restaurant? edoz, would you like to check this out?
Suggestions?
I'm really looking forward to meet you guys once again!

I'd planned to go, but kids just got scheduled for a dancing recital the same day and I'll not be able to attend Nijmegen. I hope to be there in January! Have a lot of fun!

I'd say yes. My last visit i didn't notice any violence, porn sales or d%ug dealers around, only kind people having a lot of fun

I was with my daughter last time, she was 9 years old. She did a drawing contest with the other kids in the side room and had alot of fun although she didn't speak dutch nor english.

It is a very kid-friendly event. There is only an overload of MSX hardware and software! And of course a lot of MSX enthousiasts There is also a nice ice-cream store in just a 5 minute walk away.

I talked to the patron again and he explicitly requested us to help with the Corona QR code checking. If they have to do all the checking/scanning the whole day, there will be delays at the bar and it's quite a burden for them. To help them we came up with the idea to introduce a stamp: if your valid QR code was scanned, you get a stamp and you don't have to be scanned the rest of the day anymore. You can help us by letting your QR code be scanned by Manuel or Raymond to get the stamp up front. Of course, you can also still get it at the bar if you can't find us quickly.

This way, we hope we can play our part in complying with the government rules on the corona virus. Your cooperation is highly appreciated! And of course, if you don't want a stamp, that's also fine. After all, the valid QR code is only necessary for ordering something at the bar.
