Very nice choices! About Operation in Unsteady Space, I think the track itself is kind of unbalanced, so it's difficult to make it sound right. I usually try to tone the PSG down, since it's a bit overwhelming. Plus YM2413 emulation can be hit or miss, if nukeykt isn't used.

An anthem is a song which immediately connects to a specific subculture. For MSX this can only be the opening scene from Metal Gear, Theme of Tara. Taaaaa Dam dum dum dum dum dum dum Taaaaa Dam dum dum dum dum dum dum....

Best song is something else. I remember we already did a poll on that one, SD Snatcher second intro demo won, I believe? An Illusion City introdemo tune came in second?

How can we talk about MSX anthems and not mention the short but infinitely charming BGMs of Magical Tree or Pippols?? :)

What a song qualifies an anthem (or how you define 'anthem') is subject to debate I suppose (also see the 3 definitions in the dict link). Here I (largely) had the term in mind in the sense of a 'dance floor anthem' (a recognizable big (euphoric) tune that unites the floor / sets it alight).

Theme of Tara could qualify as anthem I suppose, but not as a 'floor anthem' as described above, it has an 'euphoric' ('rousing') part, but is largely (too) gloomy I think.

And of course there can be more than one anthem
