question regardingCarnivore2 and/or MSX SD Mapper & Megaram 512Kb do these enable games for 128k to run on an msx 1
i an really confused by all the external/mapped/mapper stuff.
or do i still have just a 64k machine with sd access.
Yes you can play msx1 128k games, the carnivore2 acts if its a real cartridge and doesn't store the game in the computer so does the megaflashrom and if the game uses the scc chip like salamander or nemesis 2, you have the sound as like a real konami scc game.
With the program sofarun you can run .rom files .dsk files .cas files and act like a floppy drive.( Program put on the flashroms.)
Also carnivore2 has msx music, and brings like the scc a beter more complex sound if the game supports that.
Memory mappen don't have the scc or msx music, the megaflasrom sd only has scc sound no msx music.
Nb. On a msx1 you can only play msx1 games, so i've you want to pla metal gear you must have a msx2 the cartridge don't upgrade a msx1 to msx2.
from reading i would like to have the carnivore2 but only 1 ive seen for sale they wont ship to the uk so looks like i will have to opt for the lesser one MSX SD Mapper & Megaram 512Kb Expansion as i can get one sent to the uk, its a real shame from what you have said.
