Other game that uses an interesting approach is GP World (SEGA/Pony Cannon):
Most of the screen is composed using predefined chars and name table, but the road is done by redefining characters on the fly.
If the ZX Spectrum ports (that used to have very big huds) had been coded this way they would have been faster! (not to mention sprites, etc.)
didn't know this game.Is the main car even a tile? or hw sprite?
