To preserve the original cartridge, I designed this clone of the Pana Amusement Cartridge and Game Master 2 which is used to save Panasoft or Konami game data. It contains a Sram and a Cr2032 battery to store the data as well as the GM2 Rom image file which must be loaded with the dedicated software. Then it is used like a classic cartridge.

I think SRAM use reduces the price. According the documentation, only one SRAM chip is used for the GM2 and PAC at same time and it even alows to expand the memory of both and update software in the future. Fram chips are expensive and only have 8 kB, so two FRAMs are required to make this kind of 2in1 cartridge and no software update possible.
There is indeed the choice to use Sram rather than a Fram for the reason of the cost and the quantity of memory, but not only, because the PCB used was not only designed to realize this cartridge. Subsequently, I will have the opportunity to present something else based on the same device.
