I discovered Russian translation of Metal Gear 2. The weird thing is occasionally the texts are not Russian but English spelled using Cyrillic characters like leet eg НОТ ЙЕРЕ expressing NOT HERE at 3:32:39 and illegible "WONDERFUL MEAL" at 3:18:42. Does anyone know the origin of this translation? Edit: This video was preceded by Part 1.

Very interesting find. Never saw it before. And it looks like a new stream too. I think it would be better to leave stuff like SAVE/LOAD in English because some English words are very hard to understand when they transcribed in Russian.

I want to see the save/load menu, what part is it?
"Russification Sergey Krotmen Kononov" is credited in the ending but searching his name (Сергей Кротмен Кононов?) doesn't reveal anything. I am also interested in what the Czech conversation in Cyrillic is saying. Sergey, if you are reading this please let me know.

As you can see from the quality of the translation they didn't pay much attention to such details as conversation in Czech.

For example, Natasha asks him "How are you?". In Czech it would be "Jak se máte" and they should have used the Latin alphabet. But they use Russian and the text also looks more like Polish text "Jak się masz?", not Czech. It is more like a mix of both, but languages are similar too. It's hard to really tell because they use Russian letters to represent Latin and it does not really correspond properly.

And here is the link to SAVE/LOAD:

https://youtu.be/tRoMroSoHfg?t=12794

on top it says "-DATA SAVE LOAD-"

on bottom:

->SAVE
LOAD

Thank you for the info. Those words are in English in the Japanese original too. The "translated" words don't make any sense in Russian and I don't think it's intentional.
In the Russian translation Latin character isn't used at all except "h" in the pigeon's note outside the demo and ending credit. It's evident the translator (Sergey?) redrew the Latin fonts to the Cyrillic characters having similar sound (S -> С) or shape (W -> Ш) so the English texts forgotten to be translated became strange transliterations like SAVE -> САВЕ, LOAD -> ЛОАД. Another evidence is Snake is always СНЕЙК (SNEIK) In the dialogues but is СНАКЕ (SNAKE) when burning Big Boss is shouting.
I compared the Czech dialogues with the English version and confirmed they are indeed the unmodified transliterations.

I think your idea about the redrawn font is correct. It definitely looks that way. And I believe it would be hard for him to translate some of those texts (SAVE, for example) because they don't have enough space to fit Russian translation and other techniques must be used. But when it comes to the original text, it's easier as all script is one big chunk of data. Credits are also not translated. I am curious how he did it because the original translation is compressed. Did he uncompress it or just wrote over it? Would be interesting to have a look, but I cannot find it anywhere.

Is it based on the original Japanese script? (It referenced Minovsky particles and the Hanoi Hilton)

I edited out the Minovsky particles jamming part from Campbell's radar explanation because people won't get the Gundam joke. Hanoi Hilton is mentioned in Campbell's call if Snake departed Petrovich's detention camp without calling him but this Russian youtuber didn't do that. At that point most players who ever read the manual remember the tap code instruction that was out of place in the manual.
