MSXdev’20: #14 – Witch Day | MSX Resource Center

Witch Day is an adventure that reminds Zelda and other games. Saying that, you play the role of old lady named Anabel that comes into the town to visit her granddaughter Ángela but something happened as she arrives… After a while, your character wakes up with his memory lost and then she starts looking for Ángela.

Your mission is to find Ángela, so you should walk the whole town talking to people, getting objects to get further as you investigate what is going on here…

You have three basic keys to use during the game: open doors, talk and do actions (push, take, search, etc.). It is important to pay attention to all the screens in order to find clues and directions to complete the adventure.

Witch Day is available in English and Spanish languages. Will you accept the challenge and put your faith to the test? Help this little old lady to find her loved granddaughter.

It seems the game is corrupted after you fall in the well.
I've not tried yet in a real MSX, but in BlueMSX and WebMSX it does the same:

just keep clicking space and it will go on. I think it is meant to symbolize that you are partly conscious.

I would appreciate a softer sound when printing text. That little beep is ok for shorter texts (e.g.: titles), but when there is a lot of text, it can get really annoying

Indeed, a softer sound and faster display of the text would make the game enjoyable.

I was recently pointed towards Golvellius, which, for some reason never played back in the day and it is amazing. You need to print out the translations of the messages, but it's not big deal.

You finished chapter 1 Now you have to play chapter 2 Reset the game and enter the code at the first screen. Yo have to press the number keys related to the code you received when you finished chapter 1

You need to find a key. You can find it in a room where there is a table with 8 chairs and 2 tables with 2 chairs each one. You can find the key at the lower right part of the screeen.

Thank you ListoMefisto. Now I am stuck in episode 5. I have found gunpowder and stuffed it down that hole. Also, not sure what that was, seen those eyes looking left and right. Now I need to find some kindling to blow up the gunpowder.
In that encampment nothing can be found and around trees also nothing. Any hints ?

I played the first chapter as well... and was also stuck getting the password. Then I found the answer here on the forum;

Sorry, but RESETTING (!??) the game to get further... it’s a bit odd to me.

I managed to get to stage 6. One really has to stand super precise on the camp fire to get kindling.
However there seems to be something wrong in stage 6. One can only be at the screen with a tombstone and one to the right.

@ray2day if I recall correctly you have to bring blood to the wolves in the cave and they will eat that poor guy you've put to sleep with the tea

Not sure anymore, I solved episode 2 in one go, but I guess as in many other places in the game one has to stand at exactly the right position to do things which can be a bit frustrating.

I manged to find the red door in the maze and have finished the game. It was fun to play.
For all the lazy players the code to see the end animation is
555154556
but you will not understand what you see without the back story.
The former msxdev entry that is embedded in the game can be activated with
333246

The above (trying every side) is mentioned when I already got him to sleep (with the herbs, hot water in the cup)... but no blood. (Like said: I also put the fire out with the bucket).

I downloaded the v1.1 and the 1.2, Roms are same in both archives. Only the documentation changes.

Yes, that's it. The 1.2 version has only changes in the English manual. The ROM is the same in both versions. MSXDev description says :

"v1.2

Corrections made in English manual."
