We have just added Bitbuster 1.2 to our ever growing MSX downloads database. Bitbuster is a (de)compression toolkit with which you can create decently compressed data which can easily and rapidly be decompressed on MSX. Bitbuster was developed by Arjan Bakker of Team Bomba and was used in their first game Bombaman.

Add also Pletter from XL2S Entertainment
http://www.xl2s.tk/
it is (or claimed to be) better than Bitbuster.

It should be nice to have a table of comparison among all the MSX asm pack utilities...

Any volunteer?

How much better is pletter? Do you have some results comparing it to bitbuster?

Trust me Tongue

Pletter will always be a bit better (literally), because it doesn't write the first bit since it is always zero. (Or one? It's not needed anyway.)
And there are more small improvements.

cbakery.rom: 16384
cbakery.rom.pck: 12760
cbakery.rom.plet1: 12687

The pletter compressor checks more combinations, this has probably more impact on the compressionratio than the improvements on the format. Smile

some experiments with the same file:
Winrar max compression leads to 12.133 bytes
Winzip max compression leads to 12.411 bytes
