For some time now, flyguille has been busy developing MNBIOS (MSX Non Basic Input Output System), a new OS for the MSX2 platform which can replace the original BIOS. Due to several circumstances, this ambitious project has been delayed quite a bit. This is the main reason flyguille is looking for co-developers.
Flyguille wants to focus on the new kernel himself and would like to delegate some tasks such as the following:
- Support of OPL chips in the current kernel's music player
- Schemating a standard for the GUI's objects (events, properties, commands)
- Schemating and coding drivers for the support of i.e. IDE beer, Sunrise IDE, ObsoNET etc.
- Take a close look at the math's library to check if things can be improved
- Write a driver to support the MSX turboR diskdrive
- Development of a series of little applications to test the core
- Development of a series of little utilities like notepad, clock/calendar, screen properties editor
- Making GFX for the new interface (object oriented)
- Fonts design
- Creating some songs as examples
- Development of a demo intro
- Documenting MNBIOS. The kernel hasn't been documented at all. The sourcecodes only contain info in their headers
As you can see, there are a lot of things to be done. But it's definitely not impossible. If you have enough assembler programming experience and you have the time to take care of some parts of this ambitious project, please visit the official MNBIOS website and offer your help.
