10th Anniversary of BASIC 10 Liner Contest

One of the biggest 8-bit computer battle arenas is opening right now. It's the BASIC 10 Liner Contest, and their commemorating their 10th edition.

If you believe you can show what's the best that the MSX-BASIC is really capable of doing in 10 lines, then this is your battlefield. Sharpen your best ideas and craft a winner. The rules are straightforward:

a) Legal systems:
All 8-bit computer systems

b) Authorised BASIC dialects:
All line orientated BASIC dialects are allowed with a restriction in the category "PUR-80"

Further rules for the aforementioned categories:

1. Loading of data or program parts from mass storage is not allowed
2. The 10 lines must not contain any machine programs
3. All code must be visible in the listing: self-modifying code or hidden initializations are not allowed
4. Allowed are POKEs in storage locations
5. Deadline for submissions: Saturday, March 21, 2020, 6 p.m. CET
6. Award ceremony: Saturday, April 4, 2020 at NOMAM
7a. Voting by a panel of experts
7b. "Public's Choice" special award. Give hearts to your favorites on BASIC 10Liners twitter account @Basic10L
8. The program must be submitted on a disk or tape image
9. The program must be listable
10. Together with the program, a text file with the program description and instructions should be submitted, including a brief description of the start via emulator
11. For program descriptions and code explanations there can be up to 0.5 bonus points in the rating
12. The programmers agree to a publication of the programs, the descriptions and the instructions by the organizer
13. Send to GKANOLD-ät-BASIC10LINER dot COM, receive a confirmation per E-Mail or in the 10Liner Forum

Does the limitations also include the Rem parts as well?

Of course you can use as many REM parts as you like as long as you delete them before handing them over.

They expect the submission will use an emulator
You are supposed to send your submission by email... The rules even state that you should instruct how to start via emulator...

Hmmm... I once wrote a very simple BASIC game when I was like 12. I think it should be possible to bring it back to 10 BASIC lines: https://www.file-hunter.com/MSX/index.php?id=vallendesterren

Does anyone know if the line-numbers are included in the maximum character count? If they don't, the game complies to the PUR-80 rules. Maybe I should enter it, just for fun....

This year MSX is already more present than last year's contest. It has barely started and there are already 7 entries. Last year there were only 3. We hope that many more will appear!

Also, does WebMSX support sending keypresses via javascript after it has loaded? If so, you could even include a page param in your HTML that would automatically load the next page in the emulator, or perhaps even a specific game on it already? :)

Yep. I messed up that URL on every location yesterday ;-)
WebMSX indeed features such a function, but... I haven't tested if it will also work after loading a disk and how the URL's on my site work...

I've updated WebMSX to 6.x so it support MSX Turbo R, but for some reason Nyyrikki's entry
Sheperd's Balls doesn't seem to work. After hitting space the screen goes black and that's it. Anyone any idea? A bug in WebMSX?
