A few weeks ago, mars2000you reported on the complete map for Eggerland 2. In that same newspost he announced a map for Eggerland for the Famicom Disk System version, pointing it out as the definite version of Eggerland 2 with lots of fixes and enhancement.

This time mars2000you is back with 125 'new' stages for Eggerland Mystery. Based on Eggerland 2 - Meikyū Shinwa for the MSX and the aforementioned Eggerland for the Famicom Disk System. He has converted and adapted all the stages, so you can play them in Eggerland Mystery without the need to explore a giant labyrinth.

Of course, some stages are less difficult, as the first game of the Eggerland serie has some limitations : only 10 monsters of the same family in a stage, no advanced monsters (Leaper, Rocky, Don Medusa), no grass, sand or lava zones, slightly different behaviour of skulls and golls, no tricky stages. It's up to you to find out the adaptations!

Apart from the stages itself, mars2000you also has a map available for these new stages, as well as a map for the original Eggerland Mystery.

I hope that Eggerland Mystery fans with enjoy these 'new' stages.

I'm preparing now more than 150 really new stages, based on Eggerland Meikyuu no Fukkatsu (Revival of the Labyrinth), published in 1988 only on Famicom. We can here speak of new stages for MSX, as they have never been released for our beloved system, and I still don't understand why HAL has forgotten the MSX fans with a such excellent concept, that will become later the Adventures of Lolo.

You need Eggerland Mystery and a diskdrive (or the rom of the game and a good emulator !). Note that a cassette reader is also accepted by the game, but you need first to put the files of the DSK on a tape (or a CAS/WAV file if you use an emulator).

Select CONSTRUCTION, then FILER (with SELECT key), then choose LOAD (with the cursors), type the name of the file without the extension, then RETURN/ENTER. After loading, choose FIELD (with SELECT key), press ESC and select TYPE A or TYPE B.

Names of the files can be viewed with the FILES option when FILER is selected. For your comfort : I've named the files EGG201, EGG202, EGG203, etc .... The last file is EGG225. You can play 5 stages per file.

In blueMSX : END key is used for the MSX SELECT key.

@mars I think they just stopped developing for MSX when they started to develop (almost) exclusively for Nintendo.
Anyway, very nice to see all these levels. Thx! Smile

Some stages on Eggwerland Meikyuu no Fukkatsu are indeed really conceived for arcade action (and very difficult), what's more the goal of Nintendo. It's an interesting evolution.

Btw, I've noticed 3 other limitations in Eggerland Mystery :
- impossible to shoot an egg riding on the water
- impossible to push a block on solid ground if you are on an egg riding on the water and approach the ground from the water
- concerning the ammas, the limitation is not 10 per screen, but 5 and there's a hard flickering with 5 ammas (probably, the amma is composed with 2 sprites)

Yes, great work. Thanx. I remember one holiday where I made some stages together with my nephew. My uncle loved the game and we thought we had made very difficult levels. When making the levels we where joking it would take him all holiday to complete those levels. Finally we let him play the levels and... within 15 minutes he completed them... disappointed... Unfortunately the cassette these levels where on is lost Sad I believe the cat pissed on it.. may he burn in hell, demonic beast).

Anyways, thanx again. I will give these level a try since my holiday is comming up.

btw. I never understood why the msx 2 doesn't have a level editor Sad

Thanks for your feedback. I've just finished to play the difficult Eggerland Meikyuu no Fukkatsu on Famicom and to adapt all the stages for Eggerland Mystery. It means that 160 real new stages can now be played on MSX :

http://eggerland.msxblue.com/EGGERLAND4.zip

More exactly 159 new stages because stage 78 is a slighty modified version of stage 100 in Eggerland 2!

Enjoy :)

Nice job again Smile how does it work ? Say I've loaded EGG401 and play all 5 levels. I get some kind of bonus level but what level comes after that ? Is it the first level of EGG402 ? Or can you only play 5 levels in the loaded file and then have to reset the game, load a new file and play those 5 levels ?

Indeed, to play the 5 levels of EGG402, you need to reset the game and load the EGG402 file. You can only play the 5 'new' stages for each file, if you continue without reboot, you'll go to 'normal' stage 6 of Eggerland Mystery.
