Ofcourse Graphsaurus has its charms. But next to its charms it has its limits as well. Therefore, since the release of powerful graphical software, a lot of MSX graphicians went to the big guns in PC world and left the retro designers behind. And why shouldn't they? Setting up an MSX screen in a graphical program on a PC ain't that hard. And don't forget all the extra tools those programs give you. Usable graphics are made in a jiffy. It's even easier to convert some googled image to be MSX compatible.

There are several converters from a PC format to the MSX format. In this case the online converter of Jannone is being used. It outputs several graphical standards to several MSX screens. It's just that the palette is a bit shaken and stirred. MRC forumer Sapphire found this unacceptable and made a Perl script to get the palette, and with the palette the output screen 5 picture, adapted the way the graphician wants it to be. Or even the coder, who wants the palette in an exact order because of the sprites he has to use. All this is possible now without having to draw the whole picture again, or change colours manually in your MSX graphics editor.

If there was a Like button, I would have clicked it! This really is an indispensable tool for anyone who wants to work with multicolor sprites on V9938/V9958. Thanks!!

There is a Like button, it's just below the article (above the related news).

Nah, I mean MRC's own like button. I don't want to mix MRC and FB worlds.

Glad you like it, sd_snatcher!

The perl script is far from perfection, but I guess it could be useful. If anyone has a suggestion, feel free to modify it and/or write me a mail. Now I'm very busy with my 3 days-old daughter, but I will try to check email while she sleeps Big smile

Thanks! I've been really busy past years: I wrote a book for my students, then my dad passed away, then my son was born, more students, exams waiting grades... No time for MSX Sad

I'm planning to restore blog, I'll try to do it ASAP... if life gives me free time... You know, two kids, around 2000 students...

Try this link :

Use Google Chrome with ScriptSafe extension and don't allow bd93b905d8383778f80dac2135d8185a8766ebbd-www.googledrive.com (where there's probably a script to make the website out of reach).

Thanks, ARTRAG. I was using the cellphone to answer (like now) and it was difficult to copy/paste.

Expect more updates of the website ASAP. Will also work on restoring all the posts of the blog.
