Zaxxon, which was released on MSX twice thrice, has recently received a sequel on smartphones. In Zaxxon Escape, you need to escape the fortress that you infiltrated about 30 years ago (talk about a lengthy mission).

As you can see in this teaser trailer, Zaxxon is no longer a isometric scrolling shooter, but a third person game that shows exactly who are on your tail whilst you try to escape.

The MSX versions of Zaxxon were released by Electric Software and by SEGA themselves, apparently both in 1985. A Portuguese version was released in 1987 by NEJ/Disprosoft.

It appears so. Is it a properly different version, or is it just an adapted titlescreen? Smile

It's a Portuguese version with an additional intro screen.

thank you, didn't know about it either.

As for this new game, the easiest description is "temple run in space", because that's basically what it is. It's not bad, though.
I'm just surprised Sega decides to use Zaxxon for that and doesn't make a temple run clone with Sonic, because if there's one franchise that would work with a temple run style game it would be that one.
Leave it to Sega to make odd decisions, though Smile
