After 12 years of being the best MSX computer, the turboR seems to have lost that title. Ademir Carchano from Brazil has made a MSX compatible computer based on the Z380 or Z382 CPU.The specifications are really impressive, so lets have a look at some of them.
- 100% compatible with MSX 1, 2 and 2+
- Z380 or Z382 processor, fully backwards compatible with Z80, running 18MHz or 20MHz
- CPU clock scalable (3.57MHz, 7.14MHz, 14.28MHz, 21.46MHz)
- 4MB RAM, upgradeable to 16MB (Z382) or 4GB (Z380)
- V9958 and V9938 VDP chips
- 2MB MegaRAM, including SCC or SCC+
- PCM, PSG and FM-Stereo
- MIDI-interface
- ATA-IDE interface
- Fast DD disk interface
- AdMouse PS/2 port
- Flash BIOS
- USB port
and the list goes on...
Update
The MSX files said:It's not built yet. Ademir is "creating" the MSX and it will be finishedmore or less in 5 or 6 months. The cost (right now) is estimated in $300,but it can become more or less.We from Brazil are paying in advanced, financing the project. In otherhand, Ademir will have no profit from this first batch. And there will beonly another batch coming out if enough people are interested.Have a look at the portuguese site here
