After the Snowfall challenge, the Under Water Challenge and the Bounce Challenge the time has come to start a new MSX development Challenge. This time MRC has teamed up with Team Bomba and Sunrise in the Bombaman Challenge.

Now, obviously you will think: "But Bombaman is already finished!". Yes, but there's a Bombaman Level Editor (Bombed), including documentation available at http://www.bombaman.net/. And that's where you come in. Until the 13th of December you have the time to create one or more sets of 5 levels with the Bombaman Level Editor. These sets will be rated by members of Team Bomba, Sunrise and MRC. As usual, you can win interesting prizes which we will reveal in the near future. All further details you should know on the Challenge can be found in this forum thread. If you don't have Bombaman yet, the game is still available at Sunrise.

You can send your Bombaman levels to compo@teambomba.net until December 13th, 23:59 CET.

Hmm, you could make your own gfx set and place it in the editor of course, but that way nobody would be able to play it Wink

Seriously, we might even consider this, but because we don't expect a lot of people that want to make their own gfx (or even music) sets, we organized it this way. But of course you're free to prove we were wrong Wink

The ultimate challange would ofcourse be to deliver a complete set of maps, gfx and music.. (preferably with own wavekits ... *sigh* 128k if it has to be 128 .. Wink )

otoh, how do you judge that against ppl who 'only' come up with a map..?

..ahwell, just give us the final word about this Smile

It would be ultimate indeed, but we decided to keep the threshold low for this compo. Who knows what the future will bring...? Smile

About Bombaman...
Is it possible to run Bombaman in an MSX emulator?
If so, which one?

Yeah, Bombaman works fine in almost all emulators. At least openMSX and BlueMSX work fine, but iirc also RuMSX or fMSX should work.

However, my experience with rumsx is negative. The logo appears and bombaman loading ... after that black screen

What about BombEd?
Do I need to buy a certain proprietary operating system to use it and thus to enter the competition?

@tfh: I don't think programming skills had anything to do with the previous challenges, since IIRC they accepted just graphics and/or music as well. If it wasn't for Coral 2 I probably would've entered a Magic MWM Replayer skin in the Underwater challenge.
