On april 18th we started our very first mega-poll ever. With an initial round of nominations the competition began. 234 games battled for the prestigious title of 'Best MSX1 game ever'.
After seven rounds of voting in our forums, there were only three titles left: Maze of Galious (Konami), Penguin Adventure (Konami) and Zanac (Compile). I think it's safe to say that we weren't the only ones who were surprised to see a non-Konami game end up in the final round. In this final round, a grand total of 306 people cast their vote. The final results were:
- 1. Penguin Adventure (130 votes, 42.48%)
- 2. Maze of Galious (126 votes, 41.18%)
- 3. Zanac (50 votes, 16.43%)
Although the battle between Penguin Adventure and Maze of Galious was extremely close, Penguin Adventure never really gave away its lead. When we include the votes of all seven rounds in the forum, Penguin Adventure received a grand total of 321 votes. Maze of Galious got 308 votes and Zanac 213. You can view the full list of scores here.
MSX Resource Center would like to thank everyone who helped nominating games, submitting votes in the forum-rounds of this mega-poll and voted on the frontpage poll. Of course, we would also like to congratulate Konami and Compile with this tremendous efforts.
We have started a new mega-poll. This time the quest is one for the best MSX2 game ever (how could it be anything else? :)). You can submit your nominations in this forum thread. Also, we started a new frontpage poll. We would like to know how many MSX fairs or meetings you visit a year. Happy voting and nominating!
