After sending us in photoshoots of MSX fairs in Tilburg and Zandvoort from 1995 to 1997, Stephan Szarafinski sent us the pictures he took at the MSX fair in Tilburg, 2001.

This MSX fair will be remembered by many MSX fans around the world because Kazuhiko Nishi, the father of MSX, attended this fair to give a lecture. Before the MSX fair, no one really knew what the lecture would be about, but rumours were already spreading about Panasonic creating a new MSX. During his lecture, Mr. Nishi spoke about the past, present and future of MSX, revealing his ideas behind the MSX Revival. You can read an MRC transcript of this lecture over here.

In the Tilburg 2001 photoshoot you can have a look at the booths on the fair, Manuel Bilderbeek guiding Mr. Nishi through the premise and finally, the speech that no one expected.

I think that this fair was the most attracting one ever.

I disagree. Apart from the very exciting lecture of Mr. Nishi there was very little going on during the fair. Even later fairs like Tilburg 2002, Bussum 2002 an 2003 and Oss 2004 had a lot more to offer.

Yeah, I had an empty stand saying "GEM for Z380 in development" or something lame like that... Nishi didn't give it a second thought ^^;
Basically it was charity I got that stand, and at least I could hang my coat there Wink

Snout, you really think Mr. Nishi wasn't the main attraction at all on that fair?

I think you just misread me there, BiFi... I said apart from the very exciting Nishi lecture, there was little to do on that fair. Therefor I still disagree with you that this MSX fair was the most attracting MSX fair ever.

Guyver, I believe I got the stand back then, so that we could have a place to sit... Smile or something. You sure I didn't bring my MSX? Hmm... Well, I guess it could have been like that, yes Smile.

But, cool that Frank was there Smile. And Wammes... *sigh*...

Now that you mention it, I think we shared the costs for the stand.. Can't remember who of us ordered it tho... It doesn't really matter Tongue
The important part is, TNI was supporting the MSX community, and Nishi probably thought we were a bunch of losers Wink
