Celebrating the 4th anniversary of the Gameboy Emulator for MSX, GEM, TNI released the first public version of GEMZ. GEMZ is a Gameboy emulator for MSX2/turboR running MSX-DOS2 with a LPE-Z380 and GFX9000 extension. If you are the lucky owner of these hardware extensions, you can get GEMZ on the GEM website, where you can also find all previous releases of GEM.
As far as we at the MSX Resource Center know, this is the very first piece of MSX Software ever to be released which requires the 32-bit Z380 processor. The LPE-Z380, a cartridge containing the Z380 processor, a BIOS and a 72pin SIMM memory socket has been created by Leonardo Padial, the GFX9000 is a video card, produced by Sunrise. The combination of both results in the highest speed an MSX can achieve at the moment. This speed, and most importantly: the 4 to 128MB of memory which can be used for dynamic recompilation, results in decent Gameboy Emulation speed on MSX.
