Albert Beevendorp (BiFi) recently discovered the IPS patching format and liked it so much he decided to create an IPS patcher for MSX. The tool has been added to our downloads section. You can download IPS for MSX here. The current version does not support subdirectories yet, but future versions probably will.

IPS (which stands for International Patching System) is a standardized system to patch existing files. It's supported by many ROM translation groups. The first known IPS patch for an MSX game is for Rambo, which can have a more colorful title this way.

Yes, I have used IPS lots of time to patch SNES roms to translate them from japanese to english/spanish. It's a very useful tool. Although, for MSX there was something similar: the TRD format. Anyway, IPS is an universal format so it is good to have it avaiable on MSX.

letme understand....as you can't to modify the original roms by copyright things

you can do a external program with a datafile to patch it when the user use it?

It's more about distributing changes. It's illegal to release a complete rom image for example, but you can release a patch for it.

Yes, like when you change the ASCII files from a text.
With this patch you could change something.
