On June 19th, Kralizec will release their new game: The Goonies 'R' Good Enough. Compared to Konami's title, this version is a more accurate adaption of the well known movie from 1985. This new Kralizec game will be on sale at the 37th MSX users meeting in Barcelona. They celebrate this happy event by giving the first 37 buyers in Barcelona a double present:

The game will be released on a 4Mb cartridge with SCC and is compatible with any MSX. If you are using an MSX2+ or MSX turbo R more features will be available. You are even able to play the game through your Franky card in screen 2. The game is be available for only 35 Euro. If you aren´t able to join the meeting, you can also order this game at the MSX Cartridge Shop or Sunrise.

There were two versions of this game. one targetting msx1 the other targetting msx2.

they are basically more different. one uses screen2 the other screen 5. Pratically two different games.

What's is unclear is this game is effectively two games in 1, targetting different msx generations or if to save development time it's the usual msx1 version used as a common denominator with the usual (and almost useless) bonus of a rewritten palette if running on v9938.

Plus is unclear what is the bonus using franky and working with screen 2. None! Franky can do a lot more than a plain TMS VDP.

Kralizech can clear this?

Hi PingPong! Smile

As you can see in the promotional videos on YouTube, the cartridge contains two different games in one. ( MSX2/2+ Version / MSX 1 version)

If you insert the cartridge in a first generation MSX, that is, MSX1... you'll be able to play the game in screen2.
If you insert the cartridge in a second generation MSX, that is, MSX2... then you'll enjoy screen5 gfx.

Finally, if you use a MSX2+ or MSXtR, you'll see some extra demo gfx in screen12, and extra PCM sound with MSXtR.

The Franky card is used in mode2, that is, screen2. As a MSX1. We DO know that Franky can do it much better than that. Of course!. But we think a double version (screen2/screen5) with 9958-extra-stuff is more than enough...

full supporting Franky would be nice, the game will set a new record. "The game that support the most variety of video engines on msx..... "

But otherwise, it's nice even with described support.... of course
