Cax has released a new version of MicroWAVer. a tool that can be used to rapidly load large blocks of data with a tape interface. In this version, the following things were changed:

  • Fixed memory switch problem during loading (some BIN games didn't work)
  • Fixed bug that caused BLOAD patching to kill BASIC programs
  • Fixed bit-packing algorithm (wrong char-frequency counting)
  • Fixed bug in bit-packing-rate calculation
  • Char frequency/conversion table is built BEFORE packing of ROM,BAS,COM (BIN was OK)
  • In "-cd -xp" mode: the bps rate of the loader is changed from 2205 to 3150 (so the loader is 2 sec shorter now)
  • Square waveform is used by default. In 3675 bps compressed mode ( "-cd -c" ) you can use "-sine" to make a sine waveform.
  • Name of first file in the list is used (6 chars) as "Found:" filename ( instead of "LOADER" )
  • Created icon for the MicroWAVeRunner
  • Added ability to drag-n-drop input files into list in MicroWAVeRunner

Hey cax, good work!.

.for the MRC mods.- the relevant link from the newpost is pointing to a web with a link for MegaROMs downloads. I hope you delete it like you did here in order to avoid troubles with the legal right holeders of those ROMS/MegaROMS.

Regards.

viejo: In this and many other cases, the MRC team decided the news value was high enough to report on the new version of MicroWAVer. The post is not to promote the use of warez, but to report on a new version of an interesting tool. I admit that it's a thin line sometimes, but this time the choice was made to report about it. If you'll browse the MRC News archive, you'll find that this is not the only newspost that contains links to a website that contains, apart from the product we reported one, one or more warez as well.

Dudes, I will defenitely split MicroWAVer project from self-extracting MegaROMs one, so MicroWAVer's page will be free of prohibited material. Just give me month or two.

viejo_archivero: you even don't have to wait - I removed links to megaroms from the page, mentioned in this newspost. I hope you are happy now, aren't you ?
