MSXFiles will release 4 new games for MSX during the upcoming MSXRio MSX fair, which will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th of August, 2004. The four games are ports of SEGA SG-1000 games: Mikie (which is also being ported by Snatcher-br as part of his Pascal Library test), Orguss, Star Jacker and Dragon Wang. On the MSXFiles website you can find several screenshots of these games.

I think the correct name of the first one is "shinnyushain tooru kun" and not Mikie - at least the SG-1000 rom is named this way =)

makes you wonder why they don't make games like this anymore, doesn't it?

The purpose of the game? "Euh.. handing a loveletter to a cheerleader" Smile

Cool games! Smile

It's a pity we have to wait so long to play them!

By the way, about those Sega conversions... does the original Bomb Jack have the same sound that the MSX conversion??... it sounds really noisy!!!... I just can't avoid to turn off the volume!!... why does it sound that bad?? (at least at my TR).

The problem is that sg-1000 has 4 sound channels, and MSX has only 3, so there are only two options, or "noisy" sound, or just music in the game....

What about using SCC as a fake 4th sound channel? You could even play the music channels a bit detuned on the other SCC channels to create a nice 'full' effect.

About the noisy sound, you could enable noise for a given channel in the PSG mixer register everytime the noise channel is used in the original game. The noise frequency won't be exactly the same, but I think it will sound a little better. I mean, just check the noise channel volume in the original program. If it is 0Fh, disable noise, otherwise, enable noise and set the noise volume. Now, periodic noise would be tricker to emulate.
