Today a new demo version of MNBIOS was released. MNBIOS is a new OS for MSX which adds several interesting features, like multitasking and long filenames. This new OS increases the capabilities of the MSX2 hardware without the need of directly addressing the hardware. Without modifying the hardware, MNBIOS supports a graphical screen mode with 341 sprites at a size of 16x16 and a screen of 85x35 characters, giving characters a text and background color, similar to SVGA.

In this new demo version, which is available in English and Spanish, it's possible to program and run BAT and EXEC files. More information on the progress of MNBIOS can be found on the MNBIOS website, where you can also find the Programmers Manual.

If I'm correct, it still does not support MSX tR disk controller (?)

BTW I remember, that someone has told me, that MSX tR disk controller could handle 1.44Mb disks, but disk ROM does not support it and diskdrive is only 720Kb. Is this story of controller true or HOAX?

i read about the 1.44 FDD chips are much quickly and the slow z80 can't read or write the data quickly from/to and because that the FDD loose the data.

is this a oax?

"Similar to SVGA"? Not really. Plain vanilla VGA cards can make 640x480, 16 colors, and also text modes of up to 80x50 characters.

well, surelly the guy that write the news (I not), when mention about "as SVGA" was talking about the capability to set one color for text and other back color per character.

This news will be rewrited.
