On the 2012 edition of MSXRio, which is to be held on April 14th, Icongames is to release a new MSX game. Puzznic MSX is a port of the classic Taito puzzle game Puzznic.

In 1990, the game was already ported to MSX by the Korean Zemina (see here), but the version of Icon Games seems to have the upper hand on this one.

It's not a direct conversion, but loosely based on the official Sega SG-1000 version of the game. It has a new title screen, new graphics, 2 play modes (with and without timer), you can disable the music in-game, improved colors on MSX2 and up, correct timing, an ending, cheat mode, and lots of other improvements.

If my memory serves me correctly, an MSX version of Puzznic already exists. Wasn't it released by some MSX group in the early nineties?

Hey, isn't that a song from Q-bert playing in the background?

All like the Zemina version from 1990...
