The festivities of Christmas and New Year may be over, but that doesn't mean the time of presents has gone as well. Brazilian MSX fan sd_snatcher just released an HD version of an all-time classic: Starship Rendezvous, the game famous for its unique musical style and its hilarious reputation in a certain old Dutch MSX magazine. This new version features several improvements:

  • Hard disk installable
  • Turbo Fix
  • The turbo is enabled by default for Panasonic's FS-A1GT/ST/WSX/WX/FX and ExpertTurbo. Now the game can be played at a decent speed and the loading times are minimized.
  • Default FM Music in the game
  • The game won't freeze anymore after it's been finished

Contrary to adult movies where the acting is typically pointless, an English translation for this game may actually make it complete. Any person with omnipotent Japanese translation skills may apply for this noble job! Who dares?

I released a new version that fixed some bugs reported by some users. The readme file was complemented with info also requested by the users.

The download link is still the same, please update your copies.

Aaargh, please don't.
I've already spent quite some time recording footage and sound from this game. Big smile

Thanks for this version!
I'll use it as soon as I find out how to make a harddisk image. oO

A translation would be totally A*W*E*S*O*M*E , but I must warn you:
there's a looooot of text in the game.

LOL, well, from what I can extrahere, the story should be really freaky.
Something about a space colony, a 'black queen' and a 'white queen' and having to pleasure the female key 'pawns' in order to get info.

Why do you guys link to copyrighted material on the front page of MRC (and this is not the only time) and then remove my link which contains the same stuff? What is the reasoning?

How I did it: Configure BlueMSX with Sunrise IDE in a cartridge slot, and insert a new (blank) image for the harddisk. Use a DOS2 bootdisk in drive A. Split the Starship Rendezvous files into two directories on your PC harddisk so that each part is less than 720KB. Boot the MSX and use fdisk310 to format the harddisk image. Then insert in drive B each directory containing the game files and copy them all to the MSX harddisk. Remember that having the harddisk on MSX changes the drive letters of the floppies, and don't forget to copy MSXDOS2.SYS and COMMAND2.COM also.

Errr... there's a lot of things in your explanation that I read for the first time. Smile

Every software pirate is free to send me the harddisk image. I will think you are very sweet then. Wink

Apologies for the substantial bump,

I've been playing this after the original disk version.

Is it me, or is the PSG sound a lot quieter on the HD version??

I can hardly hear the drums etc... Question
