Yie Ar Kung Fu - 2 player mod | MSX Resource Center

Adriano has released a very special IPS patch for Konami's fighting game Yie Ar Kung Fu, inspired by a Colecovision remake developed by Opcode games. After patching the game, you will get a neat 2 player mode, which greatly enhances the amount of fun you can have with this MSX1 classic.

Hi Manuel.

The patch is bigger than the original game because the remake is a 32K ROM. The mod is big enough to not fit in a 16K ROM anymore. Eduardo Mello did a really pretty work in this game.

He remade the original game from scratch, using Konami's graphics and some of the original code? Or, how was this done?

AFAIK, the game was first converted (and changed to support two player mode) from MSX to Colecovision - and then, due to Adriano's requests, he "re-converted" it back to MSX.

So it is the original game, just changed... but I may be wrong

He didn't remade the game, but instead, did a biiiiiiiiiig patch, like the work done to create Knightmare Gold: 90% of the game code is still original, you just add another 90% of new code.

A MSX2 version of this mod could have a 2 player battle option with Young Lee fighting against Young Lee. Too bad no one thought about this possibility.
