I'm potentially interested in buying a MSX Turbo-R, but I don't really know what the going prices are for them. It doesn't have to be in mint condition, but I don't want one that's beat up either. I'm looking to see what the cheapest is I could get one that's fully functional. A non-working floppy drive might be acceptable if that would get me a decent discount and I could try to repair/replace it myself.

I'm located in the US, so it'd be nice if someone located here is selling one so I could save on shipping but it seems like US MSX fans are a minority Tongue.

I would say:

Turbo-R ST (no box and/or manuals/disks) <= € 250,-
Turbo-R GT (no box and/or manuals/disks) <= € 350,-
Turbo-R ST (complete not mint) < € 350,-
Turbo-R GT (complete not mint) < € 450,-
Turbo-R ST (complete mint) > € 350,-
Turbo-R GT (complete mint) > € 450,-

All with working diskdrive. A broken diskdrive I would say a discount of € 25 ~ € 50,- would be fair.

Maybe I'm completly wrong, but hey let's start a discussion Cool

Today the prices have gone up, so I think when one adds 100 euros to all prices luppie wrote, it might be close to what the prices are.

I'd second that. I have not seen a TR for sale below €350 in a very very long time. Perhaps if you can find one through Yahoo Auctions in JP and get lucky... but shipping cost might be the deal breaker.

BTW cr4zymanz0r, what part of the US are you in ?

*L* That has to be last place on earth where I'd expect to find a MSX fan indeed ;-)

Hehe, I agree! : ) But then Maggoo, we're in the middle of Georgia, which in the minds of most of the rest of the United States is where the locals play the Banjo theme from the film "Deliverance" so....

Nice to meet you cr4zymanz0r. The good news is that along with the exhibit Maggoo, MisterSpin and I just recently finished, is that we plan to make a website presence for what we hope will be a active American MSX scene, where anyone with questions can drop by to get started and directed here, and events or news related to MSX in America can be announced. It'll be at www.usamsx.com

I may be able to help you with the prices of importing a MSX Turbo R from Yahoo Auctions as that is originally where I got mine after many months of research and I feel that with shipping and fees included, it probably only set me back about $300 to $350 for a Turbo R GT model, which isn't bad. Of course, it came unit only and without a audio cable, a drive belt that had turned to tar and was missing a Rensha sider (the little piece of plastic that allows you to enable Rensha Mode) but with Repair-Bas' assistance, I was able to order all of those missing pieces directly from him for cheap.

So maybe about $30-40 for the missing parts / pieces I needed altogether. Not too bad since I didn't really consider it all as one lump purchase since I got them over time.

Anyhow, if you want to talk about it sometime, let me know. I'd be happy to help.

luppie price list is ok

I might add that many people who sell their TRs really love them but dont have time to use them, so they prefer to obtain a fair price and sell it to ppl that will make good use of the monster. I tracked msx.org and ebay for several years and there were TRs for just 150 eur including mouse and other cool extras, and there were TR GT starting from 1000 eur and thus not being sold.

1 month ago there was a TR ST with broken floppy with the 299 eur price. after 9 days the auction finished empty. the guy put again the item with the same price 299 eur. after 9 days the auction was again empty. so that makes me think 299 is not the real price of an standard ST with broken belt.
