Finally, after a long development process that included two alphas and two betas over almost exactly two years, the final release of Nextor 2.1.1 is here! No revolutionary changes compared to the last beta, but some yummy bug fixes are included:

  • Fixed a bug that caused FDISK to crash on Korean MSX computers.
  • Fixed a bug in slot management during EXTBIO handling that caused COMMAND2.COM to crash when two Nextor kernels and a RAM mapper were present with a certain combination of slot/subslot.
  • Fix wrongly implemented interrupt handling in MSX-DOS 1 mode that resulted in the interrupt handler for MSX-DOS kernels to not run in some cases, causing e.g. disk drive motors to never stop.

Additionally, with this release a new flavour is added to the Sunrise IDE ROMs family: "Master device only". This will be useful for owners of the Carnivore2 and similar devices that handle one single IDE device.

Would you think that this EXTBIO handling bug will fix the issues with OCM when using Nextor on the MEGA SD and having a SD MAPPER connected not booting to command.com? As weird that might sound, some people like to have a SD MAPPER on OCM devices even though they have MEGA SD on it, and so far the solution was to use DOS2 w/ FAT16 kernel instead in those situations.

The EXTBIO bug was causing COMMAND2.COM to hang when using a MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD with a SX|2, it looks like it's pretty much the same configuration you are describing indeed.

Yeah, the Sunrise CF works again as before by inserting the Sunrise CF into the expansion BUS with an adapter and the Memory mapper into the cartridge slot! Cool

(It crashes by reversing the cartridges)

Tested the master-only release and it’s working well (as expected)
