VG-8230 and VG-8240

Last week I was at Riekie's place to give her some company and have some dinner together.
She is very proud on her and Albert's MSX collection and showed met some nice things. I have posted pictures on my msx.pics profile. but these 2 machines I wanted to give some extra attention. The VG-8230 and VG-8240 (with superimpose)

Only the 8240 had superimpose.

Interesting to see a different power connector on these machines, compared to my 8235/00. Why would that be?

I have the big euro connector on my 8235/00 as well. Looks odd, but nice though

Possibly the PSU in these first gen machines needed grounding for some reasons (RF? Safety?) then they switched to a Class II/double insulated design.
What does mean the "40 80 format" on the VG-8230 feature list (above the logo)?
And was the Japanese Keyboard a transplant or an original feature?
