IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) or ATA (AT Attachment) is a parallel interface initially used by PC AT for harddisks and optical drives. ATA was renamed PATA (Parallel ATA) when it came out of SATA (Serial ATA). Up to 2 devices can be connected on one interface.
